Why do some programmers say they are not great at programming when asked about their skill level?

Programming is thought of in popular culture as something easy. Watch a youtube video, write some scripts, buy a hoodie, bingo bango you’re an engineer. “My nephew knows python.” In reality, programming is hard and people who have really tried to do it professionally have had many humbling experiences.
