Do you prefer writing on Substack or Medium?

I used to prefer Medium. But the platform has become really difficult. They are cutting costs, largely through writer pay, so it is quickly become a shell of itself. I hope it does change in the future.

Substack is super interesting so far. You have to build your own audience but you aren’t as at the mercy of corporate overlords. You can also customize your content far more and add voice overs etc.

They’ve also added a Notes feature, which is like a Twitter within the platform, where you can connect with other writers.

It will be very hard to start there if you don’t have an email list or presence elsewhere, but it can be done.
