What information do you know that most people don't?

UPSC CSE ≠ IAS.

Only 180 candidates out of the total vacancies of 800–1000 join the IAS. People think whoever clears UPSC CSE joins the IAS (and becomes a DM nothing else). This misconception is huge & very prevalent. (You might have heard from friends & family too that falana IAS ban gaya.)

Take for example, Dr. Vikas Divya Kirti. He was a Section Officer in Ministry of Home Affairs. So, yeah it was CSS and NOT IAS.

Another example, Dr. Tanu Jain. Section Officer in AFHQ but very commonly proclaimed as an Ex IAS everywhere.

Also, NO ONE becomes an IAS, it’s a service one joins.

So, the next time you hear, “Beta IAS kab banoge?” You can proudly answer, “AajTak koi nahi bana, main kaise banunga”. It’s like saying, “I am CSS.”
