There are many different types of people who answer questions on Quora, but only a few of them need a lot of time to write their answers:
Experts who intimately know the subject they're writing about, like a university professor or teacher. They’ve likely answered the same questions many times before seeing them pop up in their Quora feed. They can give you a satisfying answer in under a minute.
Fun writers who write because they enjoy it. For them, Quora is just a pleasant hobby. They could spend their free time playing video games, but instead, they choose to hang around here. If they’re busy or distracted, they simply don’t post any content. The majority of all active Quora users.
People who post nonsense, trolls. They crave the attention their garbage content generates. For them, Quora fulfills a psychological need. Their content is so low-effort that it takes them only a few minutes a day to "create” it.
Copy-pasters, recyclers, scammers, and plagiarizers. Copying from other sources doesn’t require much time. Changing a few words to disguise plagiarism also doesn’t take long.
All these types spend minimal time here. None of them have ever missed an appointment or failed a grade because they were stuck on Quora.
Then there are those who take this platform far more seriously:
Haters, hobby politicians, political crusaders, zealots, and keyboard warriors. These types are almost identical. They believe their opinions are so vital that the world would stop turning if they didn’t share their thoughts on political issues. Besides Quora, many of them have little else to do. I remember a Russian user who posted so many pro-Russian, anti-Western answers every day that I started worrying about his health. He posted around the clock, completely consumed by his Quora activities.
Amateur experts. Although they lack professional expertise, they do a lot of research—plenty of it! This can take a lot of time, and the results are sometimes mixed. For some, Quora is their home, and they often produce genuinely great content.
Professional writers. People who make money here, who are writing for views and upvotes. Fortunately, there aren’t many of them, but since answering questions is their profession, they tend to spend many hours on the platform. Not a single one of them is worth following.
Of course, most of us don’t fit into just one category. More or less, we’re a mix of different types. Sometimes, you're having fun to write here, but then a troll question provokes you, and the crusader in you takes over. Before you realize it, you’ve spent your whole evening on Quora answering a completely moronic question.
