I’ve always suffered from writers block, a fear of failure that has been with me for a long time. there was nothing I could do, however over time I have developed three ways of dealing with it.
First: Creative crop rotation, if your stick on something work on something else like a short story. My English teacher was a writer and I thought it can’t be that simple. He was right.
Second: Keep moving, go for a walk, jog or fun. Basically it’s important you do some exercise to keep moving.
Third: I was in the line at Comic Con London to talk to an author to buy his book that interested me and I asked him how did he deal writers block. He said when your stuck answer these questions:
List the characters.
Where they are at now in the story?
What are they thinking?
What are they feeling?
What are they motivated to do next?
My fear of failure didn’t go away, my ability to deal with it has only got better over time.
Hope this Helps,
Jeremy.
