I'm an aspiring writer and an avid reader. But nowadays when I read, I struggle to imagine and it's getting worse. How can I improve my imagination and my ideas for books if I can't imagine things?

Thanks Jider, for A2A.

You are an aspiring writer. You are very good reader. You are however struggling to imagine (what have you read). That impacts your writing. No problems.

Read carefully an essential/important part. After reading, do this exercise: WRITE A PARAGRAPH ABOUT WHAT YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD. Then repeat. See where you can edit your own paragraph. Have another session of rereading and reediting. That may take half-an hour. The exercise, apparently an unproductive activity, may yield results. Your bug, whatever it is, will be defeated by your determination. It will run away, not waiting for a fourth time reading and reediting. Either it will be get killed by the intense heat generated by your steadfastness or it will implode (a wild guess).

Start writing after jotting down every idea that comes to your mind. Edit the idea list for cleaner and doable ideas. Then go ahead.

Wish you the success soonest.
