Can writing on Quora improve my writing skills? I am a beginner.

In my eyes, I am the perfect person to answer this question. I will tell you why.

There was a time back in my undergrad days when I could not speak in front of the audience. I just could not. Even now, I'm 1/10. Though now, I try - eloquence would surely come sooner or later. The same is true with my writing. I always had thoughts in my mind- I just didn't know how to articulate those thoughts.

I was a voracious reader on Quora. I always used to think (I still do) about how beautifully people write. Though I never had the confidence to write any answer. My reason was the most cliched Indian reason to anything - log kya sochenge? (What will people think?) if I make a grammatical mistake.

Then on one good day, one of my friends asked me a question on Quora. I made up my mind that this time I will write it. And I did. I still remember I kept opening the app to check if anyone upvoted or anyone suggested edits. My answer had a total of 12 views on the first day with no upvote. But now I had one answer on Quora. All I needed was this start which I got.

I believe it's this start that is needed to embark any journey. Just pick up any question in the area of your interest and write the answer. I will tell you the benefits of writing on Quora:

Today I crossed 1 million views on my answers and have more than 2 thousand followers on Quora. Is this the greatest feat? Definitely not. But am I proud of myself? Oh hell yes, I am. Now I don't fear to pen down my thoughts. But more than proud, I feel lucky to be a part of such an awesome community that showers its love in the form of messages and comments. This definitely keeps me motivated to write!
