Is it possible for authors to create characters while writing their novels, rather than creating them beforehand like most writers do?

I ALWAYS do that. I’ll initially name the main protagonists, but other than that, I do it all on the fly. So I don’t know where you got that most authors don’t. After all, who else is going to, Ted in the accounting office? If not, then maybe he could determine each characters’ voice too?

When you write, you handle everything, as there’s no team when you write. You either do it, or it don’t get done!
