What is the point of a blog?

A blog enables anyone to publish their writing publicly.

Before the Internet existed, if you wrote an article, you had to get it accepted by a publisher and approved by an editor. Now anyone can write a blog.

Your motive might be too earn money, through subscription or advertising, or just have your writing seen by your readership. Your blog might be technical, informative or entertaining.

Before discovering Quora, I had written a couple of articles for a specialist journal and a dissertation. Now I write posts on my personal blog Space, Eclectic Anecdotes, simply for the pleasure of writing.
