It’s the story. Some people grouse about Dan Brown’s writing, but he is one heck of a storyteller, and good storytellers are the ones that keep the pages turning. There are more people that want to be taken out of this problematic world and into another where the good guys win and there’s a happy ending for the lovers than people who want to read about how people cope with today and people who like to think about what they’re reading, no matter how great the writing is.
