Am I cut out to be a writer/author?

Only if you think you are.

There isn't a point in the journey where writing suddenly becomes easy.

In fact, if you're doing it right, it gets harder the more you do it.

As our skills increase, our expectations do too. You are leveling up every time you write.

Imagine someone giving you these instructions:

"Ok, for your next assignment, you must come up with a great and potentially complex idea, then transmit that idea (and the emotions associated with it) to someone else, anywhere in the world, at any time now or in the future, using only words." 😭

?? Gah Damn. That's no easy feat.

Writing is hard because it requires clear thinking. But when we're starting out, our brains aren't used to THIS kind of thinking. You're accessing regions of the brain that rarely gets vistors.

Like any hard skill, writing takes years of daily reps to become proficient and a lifetime to master (if ever).

So stop comparing yourself to others ahead of you.

If you must, compare yourself to others standing still.

If you've been writing for awhile, look back at something you wrote a few months ago - are you cringing? Good. That means you're improving.

𝗕𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲: Cut yourself some slack.

Stick with it. ✌️
