What is your opinion on the best way to start writing about young adult characters in a new novel series for an experienced writer?

You just write about them, the characters, situations and scenes change but the writing is always the same. Nothing really changes, just work it all out first then make some notes if you must, odds are good you don’t need to do a full blown outline, in fact I have never written one except for my anal retentive high school writing teacher.
