If you're old, what are your abilities, skills and/or experiences despite your old age?

I have just had my 90th birthday and it is my physical state which differs now. I manage to look after myself without too much help, but have to spend far too long sitting in my chair. However, maybe this is the reason my brain seems to be working better than ever. I can do very difficult cryptic crosswords, which I wouldn't have attempted before. I write poems and short articles, read the paper avidly and have an opinion on most things. My brain is constantly busy.

All this may seem trivial to the brighter beings reading this, but I have never been academic, just a mother with a part time clerical job in the NHS and leanings towards more artistic hobbies.

Maybe there had been a better brain there somewhere all along, but certainly I am using it now.
