Is evidence necessary to believe something? Can you provide examples of situations where evidence is not needed to believe something?

You can believe anything you want to without evidence. It’s called faith. But why would you want to? Thats just gullibility. You get a letter in mail, addressed to you. It says that someone has $90,000,000 in a bank somewhere and needs you to help them get it out. And you’ll get 1/3 for helping them. Do you believe it without evidence? I hope not. That would be gullibility.

It really depends on what you are asked to believe. I tell you I have a cat. You come to my house and don’t see a cat. But you see a food bowl, cat pot, and a scratching post, all signs of a cat. I haven’t lied to you or misled you before so I probably have a cat. Now, if I tell you that there’s this invisible spirit up in the sky, that loves you, he came down in human form and was crucified, and if you believe in him that he exists, he will save you, and let you into a magic place to live forever, are you going to believe this without at least some evidence of this happening? I hope not.

Best to be skeptical until evidence is provided.
