How much do you people think you know anyway?

Q: How much do you people think you know anyway?

Sadly, less than before.

Why?

Two reasons.

1.

In the past, a thing was a thing. An answer was an answer, but nowadays, the answer to everything is.

It depends.

And the thing is, we don’t always know what it depends on.

And rather than saying, people want you to play a guessing game.

(That’s not a political statement. Please don’t use it as a silly overheard platform argument. I’m talking about real-life, functional, non-political stuff, like the price of something, or how to get to a place…. No red, blue crap)

2.

You can know a thing, and whenever Microsoft, Apple, an airline, a company, a bank, or a designer changes something, what you knew becomes untrue, and now you’re being laughed at because you can’t turn your iPhone flashlight off because you failed to watch the latest TikTok post.

(Exaggeration, but I think you get the message).

Before, I knew what I knew and I knew that I didn’t know most of what was unknown to me.

Now, I try not to get too cocky about what I know.

Oh and another thing.

People are surprisingly resistant to giving you the answer in the form that you request.

Examples:

Q: What time are they arriving? / A: Later. (does that mean 6, 9, midnight, 2am?!)

Q: What colour is it? / A: A cool, earthy colour. (Huh?!)

Q: Do I turn left or right here? / A: Go north. (RFKM?!)

Knowing a thing is a bit of a challenge, and also a temporary thing.
