When I relocated to Canada a few years ago, I heard many people mention how polite Canadians are, and as I observed the people and their behavior, I completely agreed. Coming from a place where eye contact with strangers is avoided and ignored if accidentally made, Canada was a different experience. Even when eye contact occurred by chance with someone unknown, people would genuinely smile at each other. Although it felt awkward at first, I eventually learned to adapt. However, I struggled to fake it myself. It's difficult for me to put on a fake smile, as I always strive to offer a genuine one. However, I've noticed that many people here in Canada have mastered the art of giving an inauthentic smile. I despise it, and it doesn't make sense to me. If you're going to smile, make it real. Let it originate from your eyes and come from the heart. Let it be infectious, sincere, and true. Ditch the fake smile and replace it with a genuine one. It's worth noting that I'm not criticizing the Canadian way of life or their gestures; it's perfectly acceptable. It's just a personal perspective that I find it illogical. P.S: Today, I learned a new word, "spurious," which means fake or false.
