How do you start writing an article when you have no idea where it's going to end up?

As a general rule, you usually have some purpose of mission with an article. I know I rarely just sit down and start writing without a single clue where I’m headed.

Now, having said that, I do know people who do that very thing and to be honest with you I have no idea how they do it. Sorry.
