Khaf khte hain esai… Khauf… Apna raaj chalta hai yahan.
One evening I swung my leg over my bike, engine purring in anticipation and took off down my street. It was eerily spotless. Even the usual chit-chatting aunties had disappeared. The silence was a bit unsettling.
“Where the people disappeared today?” I murmured with eyebrows knit in confusion.
I glanced around at the empty houses.
“Is today curfew? Bharat Band? Bihar Band? Something like that?” I muttered and my mind buzzing with conspiracy theories.
“Ah, forget it. I’ll head back home after a ride” I uttered to myself.
And just as I made peace with it then I spotted a small cluster of people down the road… a few aunties, some kids hanging around. A sigh escaped me.
**What a relief**
But then, Aunties looked in my direction and her eyes went wide. She tugged at the kid’s arm with a vigor usually reserved for a runaway cow, pulling him off the road, practically sprinting.
That’s when I felt it.
DARrrrrrrRRRRrrrrrrrr!!!
That day I turned around only to realize I was not a human but a cow!!
