How long should a person take to write a novel?

admin 8 0

I read somewhere that Faulkner wrote his first novel (not necessarily published) over a weekend. He was a prolific writer. I also read that Steinbeck took several years to write his King Arthur novel.

In general, I would expect it to take anywhere from a few months to a year or two.

And that’s just the first draft.

Wording of the question when I was asked to answer by Michael Okeke: Approximately, how long does it take to write a novel?

Note: I block obvious trolls, but I normally do not block comments; I enjoy thoughtful discussion. If someone posts a negative comment, I will probably respond to it. If their language is insulting or offensive, however, I may block them.
