Can you explain a screenplay in layman terms, and how can writers excel in writing a screenplay?

I can only add two things to what has already been said.

In creative writing there is no such thing as “tips, tricks and hacks.”

95% of all screenplay writers are not being paid for it. They are writing for tiny production companies, film clubs, film courses and other people that can produce small films for free, in the hopes that their films will be accepted into film festivals, it might get noticed, and they can add that to their portfolio.

The remaining 5% all live in Los Angeles, Toronto, New York, Atlanta, London, Mumbai, and other large cities where there are production facilities and studios, because all pitch meetings are done in person.
