I have never tried to get clients from Telegram as a channel for freelance writing. But if you can get reliable clients who are ready to pay 50% advance and 50% after the work is done then I would say go for it.

It does not matter where you get your clients from. The only thing that matters is that they should be reliable, ready to pay and that you are comfortable with the subject.
