I love to write stories, I want to be a writer, but I hate reading. Does that mean I am a bad writer?

No, it doesn’t make you a bad writer. However, like most writers would agree, reading is extremely helpful. Not only does it help you develop your writing voice and get you more familiar with varying sentence structures, but reading pieces in your genre of choice gives you a much better perspective when you start writing.

Reading and writing go hand in hand, and ultimately if you talk to other writers they will most likely tell you that that they read a lot and perhaps almost as much as they write. I suggest trying your best to find a genre or even an author that appeals to you in some way and give one book a try. Try not to get overwhelmed with the sheer amount of choice; stick with one book and see what happens. You might end up discovering something that inspires you to write more!
