Your premise, that “publishing a book will earn money” is inherently flawed.
Most first self-published novels earn between $0 and $500 per year. More of them earn $0 than earn $500. In fact, if you factor in that many writers end up pricing their books at $0 just to try and earn an audience, those books are losing money.
Even among successful writers, most of them are earning less than minimum wage for their books, and 95% of them cannot make a living from writing alone.
If you want something that makes you money from the beginning, start collecting and recycling aluminum soda cans. You’ll make more money than you will from writing a book.
Writers write because they have to; because there are stories inside them trying to claw their way out.
