It is entirely possible to make money as a freelance writer, however, the amount you will make curating content will be contingent on the amount of effort you are willing to put in. I write content on a platform called Medium and joined there “Medium Partner Program” very quickly. Using the follow for follow method gained me an army of unloyal followers that were never there for my content to begin with, but rather, they were just after my promise of following back every follower that I recieved.
For some reason I had it in my head that content writers DO NOT have to adhere to society guidelines of establishing a centralized niche. I am here to tell you that while success may be possible without one, it is definitely easier to grow your reach with one. It is way to hard to market yourself and gain an audience without one. People typically turn to the net for a very specific purpose and seek out the information they need from someone that knows what they are talking about.
With that being said, after I settled on a singulatory niche, I started making hundreds of dollars on Medium a month. It’s not six figures, but it is definitely a start!
I have also found a lot of success writing crypto blogs on the platform publishx0.
Find what you like to write about and the rest will follow suit! There are tons of content writers that are making a living creating content, especially with AI generated content flooding the internet. People want to hear from a real person.
In reference to your question of “how much do writers get paid per article”,
there is no one size fits all answer to that question, as every company, platform, etc. is different. For instance, Medium pays there writers based on an algorithim similar to the payscale offered here on Quora. A percentage of each membership goes to the writers when people read their content. Medium offers boosts that ultimately pay more, for instance, someone reading your content all the way through. Writers don’t get paid unless the reader is on their story for more than 20 seconds.
There are also websites such as listverse that pay a flat amount for one article. Listverse has a high pay scale of $100 but that is a competitve route to take and their are strict guidelines regarding what content will be accepted and paid out. So it is possible you will write an article and not get paid for it. In the same token you may right an article and get paid $100.
Overall, there are tons of options out there you just have to determine the form of monetization you are looking for.
Good luck and best wishes!
