Let's start with Quora's schizophrenic content policies. Quora deleted an answer I wrote about how that when I was 18 years old I had a lovely, months long relationship with a girl who was a couple of years younger than me. I posted the answer 3 or 4 years ago, and Quora suddenly decided it violated their sexual exploitation policy. Really? A couple of teenagers had a lovely relationship and somehow I was exploiting someone? No, I was a teenager myself, and so was she.
All these years later, I smile when I think about her, and what a sweet relationship we shared. As I said in my answer, I knew it wouldn't last as we were both so young, and she did break up with me, and we went our separate ways. I actually found her on Facebook several years ago. Like me, she's been in a decades-long marriage, raised children, and looks happy. I did not send her a friend request. Some of you suggested in the comments that she probably fondly remembers me also. I hope so.
And then there was the time I posted an answer where I wrote about a woman I was acquainted with that caught her husband cheating on her by tapping their home phone.
Gasp! The outcry, the righteous indignation, the wailing and gnashing of teeth in the comments was horrific. Yes, yes, I know that phone tapping is illegal. I know it is completely inadmissible in court or divorce proceedings. I didn't tap a phone myself, all I did was wright an answer about it. Holy crap. One would have thought I committed murder. I guess someone reported it, because Quora deleted that answer too.
So, those two answers violated Quora policy. Just what is Quora policy?
A few years back, someone posted the question, "Is that really you in your profile picture," or something like that. Good Lord, it was like a Penthouse magazine. Nude and racy photos all over the place.
Does that violate Quora policy?
Apparently not.
My gut tells me this answer will violate Quora policy. I expect it to be deleted.
We'll see.
