How often, if at all, should you keep a journal for mental health reasons? What content is best to include in that journal, if any?

I think you should write in a journal on a daily basis. There’s a lot of ever-changing thoughts/feelings/emotions that exist in our heads, and writing them down organizes those feelings (as opposed to leaving them as a jumbled mess in our minds).

As far as content goes, the sky is the limit! You could write poetry, draw, or even just write about what’s on your mind or what you did throughout the day. My favorite thing about maintaining a journal is going back and seeing how I’ve grown/changed. I’ve kept a journal since I was seventeen years old, and it’s always helped me to make sense of what’s going on in my noggin.
