What can you write instead of “she smiled”? I feel like it’s too straight out to write every time. How do I show and not tell?

“Of course!” Her smile flashed.

The quick glint of her teeth told me she was amused.

Her eyes danced (or twinkled)

“She chuckled,” or “she laughed” also work. Try doing either without a smile. (But do not use either to replace “she said” as attribution. You really can’t speak and laugh at the same instant.)
