What is your opinion on people writing letters to the president, and how effective do you think they are?

It’s idealistic and a bit narcissistic. Take a look at the world, and tell me that the President will have a good chance to read and respond to letters when he could be getting some much-needed rest. It just doesn’t make sense for him to do.

I remember writing Clinton when I was in elementary school, and I got this automated response back. A volunteer or intern probably flagged it as being from a child and sent back a pre-written response. I assume that there are categories for all sorts of things so that people don’t have to waste their time on your letters.
