Is it considered poor writing to leave readers with an unresolved ending in a novel? What are some techniques for effectively using this type of ending?

Please don’t leave an unresolved ending. I get disappointed and decide not to read another one of that author’s books. My most recent published book is Searching for Justice about two lawyers who snarl at each other in court, but kiss in secret. And, yes, they do solve the crime.
