What are the benefits of using a pseudonym instead of your real name when publishing?

The two main reasons are privacy and branding. You’ll find a lot more people willing to share their stories if their legal name isn’t attaching them to it. And on the other hand, an author may view their work professionally in which case they come up with the best suited title for themselves in their own eyes, based off of their own writing and apart of their brand. Like, say in romance, you might be named John Doe and feel it doesn’t represent you or your work well and feel like going by Rico Suavé would be more appropriate.
