What makes Aaron Johnston a standout writer?

This question is best answered by reading his work. Or by watching the short TV series Extinct, which was streamed by BYU-TV. Aaron wrote every word of that series, and also was the executive producer and showrunner. (I was responsible for the initial milieu and story creation.)

Aaron is a master of contemporary public fiction writing, and was resourceful enough to write every word of the Ender prequels in a manner deliberately reflective of my style, so that some friends were sure that I wrote the books alone, whereas I only contributed story creation and world-building, and Aaron later elaborated on those in the actual writing of the books.
