How can I improve my world building for my novel because I feel my novel is getting bland? I can’t figure out the problem, maybe the pacing, but I’m not sure. Any tips?

World building is important, but it is background. You as the author need to know everything, but you also don’t need to include everything in the story itself. Most of the time, like in real life, the larger world needs to be commented upon or impinge upon the awareness of the characters, but never let it take over the story. Don’t infodump.

To avoid blandness, inject color and wit and intelligence and conflict, but make sure all those characteristics are organic to the characters and story and not just thrown in willy-nilly.
