If kids are not learning to write cursive, how do they sign checks? Or do they only learn how to sign their own name?

This Scotswoman living in Scotland still uses cheques. Not every day, but certainly every month. I get through a 20-cheque book inside a year.

Looking at the counter-foils in my current book, they mostly go to my motor mechanic, to paying my credit card bills and as one-off donations to particular causes or charities. Yes, all those people can accept money by bank transfer, but we dinosaurs prefer not to get into the nightmare that online banking so often can be, and - I believe - definitely will be one day when the internet crashes round the world.
