What are some effective strategies for overcoming writer's block when working on a novel?

I play classical music while I write. Classical music is difficult for our brain to comprehend, so it opens our higher thinking processes while trying to understand. This makes it possible for me to write creatively. The kind of classical music is important to the kind of scene I am trying to write. For the exciting scenes, I play rousing music that gets my blood boiling so I can write chase scenes, fight scenes, or other excitement. Other authors have different techniques, but this is how I do it.
