What is something that took you years to learn?

I was a kind of self oriented girl due to which I didn’t have any friend expect one. I didn’t like talking with anyone nor I liked sharing my things due to this no one in my class was interested in talking with me. This was my personality when I was in class 6. Then my one and only friend gave me a dare “ASK EVERYONE IN THE CLASS DO THEY LIKE YOU OR NOT”. I ignored this dare and unfortunately we had some misunderstanding between us and I apologized for my behaviour and she told me not to speak with her for 20+ days which I agreed and I thought why is she doing like this. So from that day I started ignoring her and started talking with other classmates and made some friends too. I remember it was during our revision classes, our teacher told us to sit together and we sat. We were sitting together without talking with each other and finally she broke the silence…we cleared our misunderstanding…and started talking again.

In class 7, we were again sitting together but suddenly my father decided to change city and I had to leave my school too. I didn’t inform anyone even her about it and left that school. After 2 weeks I called her and told these thing and I found she was crying, I really regreted my action of not informing her.

I remembered first day in my new school and I even remembered the date. Before I entered my classroom my father told me one thing…”DAUGHTER, REMAIN CALM AND DON’T BEHAVE RUDELY WITH ANYONE”…Those words are still in my ears. I obeyed him and never behaved the way I used to behave in my previous school. I talked with everyone without any rudeness. They were very friendly to me. One day I remembered my friend’s word…”ASK EVERYONE IN THE CLASS DO THEY LIKE YOU OR NOT”…That day I realised the main motive behind those words. She was telling me to stay humble, helpful, and stay calm. I was an idiot to behave that way in my previous school.

I always want to thank her for showing me right path. I don’t know whether she remembers this or not but she has helped me to find a very good personality in myself. We are still friends and we met after 7 years before 2–3 months but I forgot to thank her. Waiting to meet her again…
