Skills section on a resume? Is that still a thing?
Frankly, that's old school. When resumes were chiseled on a stone tablet some self appointed job coach thought of this idea. Soon enough job seekers started loading their resumes with a laundry list of skills that didn't really mean anything.
It's wasted space my friend. In any country.
Hiring managers and recruiters caught on. So what if you listed 5 languages in your useless skills section. You might only be able to ask where the bathroom is in each of them. Donde esta so baǹo? Por favor.
It's better to get rid of that section and explain how you used those skills in your work history section.
Instead of a skills section, as a recruiting professional, I would rather see a professional certification section. Here you could most industry certifications that demonstrate you put in the work to earn them.
Finally, when writing or revising your resume just think about the recruiter and hiring manager. Make it easy for them to assess your experience. Assume they don't have a clue because they don't. A skills section will only confuse them or piss them off because they have no idea how you used those skills.
