Are pro poker players just lucky or do they have skill?

Poker players that take the game seriously, do just that. They learn all they can. They read articles, they watch videos. They watch poker on TV. Some go to training sites. Some read books. Some do all of that and they study on and off the table to learn and evolve because it is an ever evolving game. There is an amount of luck to it. I’ll give you the simplest example. I have an over pair to your pair. Me and you were heads up and we both decided to go all in pre-flop I have an 81% advantage of beating you by the river, but you have a 19% chance of spiking a set by the river. And it does happen quite a bit. The good thing is is that luck is good for the poker economy because it’s what has people keep coming back when they should have lost and they won, they get excited and that creates a positive experience. Now, if you’re talking about chess, that’s all skill. You don’t get lucky with that.
