If Mark Zuckerberg came in for an interview in disguise, would he have the skills/education needed to be a programmer at Facebook?

The former Facebook intern who worked with Zuckerberg was interviewed by New York Mag a few years ago. Here is the part he tells and which provides us with elements to answer the effectiveness of Mark Zuckerberg in succeeding in a job interview at Facebook:

Zuckerberg no longer coded at Facebook, just as Steve Jobs never coded the iPhone software himself. When an internal Facebook team said they were finalizing a new feature, Mark Zuckerberg said he wanted to write a few lines of code. Everyone thought, “Oh, Mark is going to write code!” Someone created a bug that was easy for him to fix - add a link to an image or something - and he did it. Five minutes have passed. Twenty minutes. Then an hour. In reality, it took him two hours to do something a Facebook engineer would have done in five minutes.

Additionally, he said during a Q&A that he "didn't have the grace to write code."

You should also know that job interviews at Facebook have very technical parts. This involves answering developmental questions submitted on a whiteboard. It also has to be optimized, and optimization is learned by practice.

As Mark Zuckerberg hasn't really coded for over a decade (2006 specifically) to focus on running Facebook, he would no longer be able to give answers at the level of young recruits who code for several hours a day.

So no, Mark Zuckerberg was clearly not going to succeed in his anonymous job interview!
