Most technology has a cost associated with its use.
Even technology which actually makes life easier, has a front-loaded learning curve, because it’s sufficiently different from what went before that people just are not interested in paying the front-loaded cost.
So I have to hit return twice on some screen where I should only have to hit it once; once it’s wired into my medulla oblongata to hit return twice, I’m not even conscious of the act. Why do I care to “make it easier”, if all it’s going to mean is that my hardwired motor nerves are going to hit return twice, and screw up my input anyway?
