Short answer: You cannot forget the past but you can find peace with it
I suppressed my past without even knowing it.
People called me a total head-centered person as I had a very hard time showing emotions.
I had emotions. But they were so uncomfortable that I did everything to block them off.
When girls showed affection I behaved awkwardly. When they came too close to me I felt a panic rising in me and had to escape. I just couldn't handle it.
Later in life, memories of my childhood that had been buried under rocks came back flashing up.
I began to understand how my past has shaped me.
Forgetting about your past is like suppressing it. You might be fine with it for a while.
But the pressure keeps building up.
One day you need to heal your past or at least find peace with it to progress in life and let the pressure go.
