Why does someone need to know anything to be able to pass an IQ test?

Well, depends on what. VCI is flawed in the sense it asks for antitheses of words, how many words you know and the profundity of your verbal toolkit. It relies on attained knowledge.

But something like FRI relies very little on obtained information. If you want to get a better idea of your IQ (thinking its higher than whats tested), have a look at what the test emphasises. You may be good at one thing, and better at another. This is especially true with higher IQ’s, the scatter between your IQ points is greater the greater your IQ is. For me, my pattern recognition was tested in 160’s (ill choose ambiguity for these so i can evade the perception of egotistic bragging), my FRI and PRI were also 160+, but my numeric was mid 140’s to mid 150’s. the scatter is greater.
