Is there a difference between being smart and being knowledgeable? Can being knowledgeable make someone smarter?

To be smart can mean intelligent; in that sense it refers to the capacity to acquire and use knowledge.

To be knowledgeable indicates that the person has acquired considerable knowledge.

A young child could thus be smart but not very knowledgeable yet about a given topic.

But people often also say a person is smart because that person shows good judgment. In that sense a person could be intelligent and even possess considerable knowledge, yet not have common sense or good judgment.
