How come Americans know more about China than Chinese people do?

I honestly have not come across a more ignorant question here on Quora than this one. Why? Because Americans are some of the most brainwashed people on this Earth. A minority of us have passports and we have the stunning false belief that the USA is the center of the Universe. Billions of people live in other countries and our inability to even locate most countries on a map of the world is stupefying. Not only are Americans deaf, dumb and blind when it comes to China but they lag by a huge distance from Chinese in their knowledge not only about China but the USA as well. Many Chinese speak some English and children begin the study of English no later than 3rd grade all across this vast country. Not only are just about all street signs here in China are in English as well as Chinese but many store signs include English as well. Chinese people wear all manner of clothing with English and American sayings on them. Most know of the better American universities and they follow the NBA like most people in the world follow religion. They have a deep curiosity about the USA and in the 14 years I have lived here in China, people constantly ask me questions about the USA including our politics.
