How do you find the absolute truth in life?

What do you even mean?

Something can be true (1) or false (0) , or take a value in between [0,1].

Now, what is the set of those “somethings”.

To me, that set would be “the set of statements that refer to something”

Arristotle says it already in metaphysics :

“To say that ‘what is’ is not, or that ‘what is not’ is, is false; but to say that ‘what is’ is, and ‘what is not’ is not, is true; and therefore also he who says that a thing is or is not will say either what is true or what is false. But neither what is nor what is not is said not to be or to be. Further, an intermediate between contraries will be intermediate either as grey is between black and white”

I define truth as such:

“Truth is the set of statements with a truth value sufficiently close to one” With truth value being: “The amount of correspondence between a statement and what it refers to”

Now the “truth in life” could be interpreted “truths you can encounter during your life” or “truths that are about life”. Those sets are not the same.

The set about life is a subset of the set about reality. Because we are not omniscient, we can’t get truth values of 1, as there might be information out there that invalidates our current estimate. As such, truths about reality should not be assigned a truth value of 1, but can be “sufficiently close” to it. (You can use Bayesian inference for updating the estimated truth value)

When you consider truths of things such as logic or mathematics, then you start from a “known world”, namely a set of axioms. In those cases, you can have statements with a truth value of 1, as they refer to that logic or mathematics.

So, you can encounter “absolute truths”, as in “statements with a known truth value of 1” in mathematics and logics. You can’t encounter known absolute truths about reality.
