What are some websites similar to OSCP that offer practical learning experiences rather than just theoretical knowledge?

I’m not into cybersec but I have compiled all the required info that you possibly need.

Best of the Best:

SANS GIAC Certifications (GPEN, GSE, GWAPT) – High-level, expensive but the gold standard.

Offensive Security (OSCP, OSCE, OSEE) – Renowned for hands-on mastery, with OSEE being a pinnacle of technical skill.

CISSP from (ISC)² – If you want to move into senior leadership roles like CTO/CISO positions.

CREST – (CCT INF) and (CCT APP) are highly respected in the UK and global cybersecurity circles.

eLearnSecurity eCPTX – A solid alternative to OSCP with deep hands-on labs.

Extra:

MITRE ATT&CK Defender (MAD) Certifications: Used by governments, militaries, and large corporations to map out real-world cyber threats and extremely valuable for Red Team/Blue Team professionals who want to master adversary simulation and threat detection.

Certified Red Team Professional (CRTP) & Certified Red Team Expert (CRTE): Focus specifically on red teaming and adversary emulation, with a strong emphasis on Windows Active Directory attacks and defence strategies. Their advanced hands-on labs are widely praised.

Hacking the Box (HTB) Certifications: Known for providing some of the hardest hacking challenges in the world. They now offer certifications like HTB Certified Penetration Tester (HTB CPT) which, while newer, are gaining a lot of respect in the industry. HTB challenges can also go beyond OSCP-level in difficulty and creativity.

Offensive Security Wireless Professional (OSWP): Wireless hacking isn’t covered by many certifications, but OSWP fills this niche and is considered a very advanced cert for anyone specializing in Wi-Fi exploitation.

PhD in Cybersecurity: If you're truly looking to reach legendary status, a PhD in cybersecurity from a top university like Stanford, MIT, or Carnegie Mellon is the pinnacle of knowledge. This is more academic than practical certification but the deep theoretical knowledge of attack vectors, cryptography, and systems security will make you a true expert in the field.

Underdogs:

TCM Security’s PNPT (Practical Network Penetration Tester) is their flagship certification. It’s a great alternative to OSCP if you’re on a budget, as it focuses on real-world engagements like Active Directory attacks, network pentesting, and reporting. It also includes practical exams where you must simulate a real pentest and write a report, which is a critical skill in the industry.

Mixed bag:

EC-Council’s CEH, CPENT and LPT Master.

Foundational:

All CompTIA certs.

All the best.
