What are the potential reasons for someone wanting to be omnipotent despite having no limits on their abilities or knowledge?

I think you mean “other than” instead of “despite” because it sounds like you are suggesting those are bad things that come with being omnipotent, and you are looking for a reason why someone would want those powers.

That is the only potential reason I can imagine for why anyone would want to have be omnipotent. So they can experience what it is like to have no limits on their abilities or knowledge…

The problem with this idea is that to be omnipotent, in a way you become a slave to purpose. You have no limits, so any notion of action or expression or knowledge lose all boundaries, and when you lose all boundaries, you lose meaning and coherence as a conscious self determined entity as we know it.

To be omnipotent is to be eternal and to be eternal means it is impossible to “become” omnipotent. To be omnipotent you must BE omnipotent and must have always been omnipotent.

So the very suggestion of wanting to be omnipotent automatically presents it as impossible. Not that the existence of omnipotence is impossible, just the possibility of a non-omnipotent entity BECOMING omnipotent on it’s own.

The only way a non-omnipotent entity could “become” omnipotent, would by by assimilating with an omnipotent force and relinquishing personal identity.
