Why does knowledge offend people?

I’ve never encountered people who are offended by knowledge. I have heard of folks who are anti-education.

They have a point in my opinion. Why pay for an expensive education based on books that “memorialized” a version of history or selected information commissioned by powerful people with the sole interest of social engineering. Moreover, once the graduate receives that piece of paper that many senselessly worship, the graduate rarely uses that bought knowledge as it was intended. A degree maketh not an intelligent or capable person. Just an indebted one.

However, I imagine you are referring more to those people who would believe the rhetoric they hear rather than the credible info or would rather believe gossip than finding out the truth. People are scared of what they don’t understand and are too lazy to learn what common sense should have already told them. Mostly, however, ignorance is bliss.
