If humans suddenly gained the ability to know everything about the universe, would it lead to societal progress or widespread existential crises?

Although we don’t know everything about the Universe yet, we know quite a lot, and a large part of humanity doesn’t seem to be that interested in it. I don’t think that it would be a factor in widespread existential crisis.

Synthesis of what is already known about the Universe is at the fingertips of practically the whole of humanity already by just going on the internet and knowing where to look. It’s even enough to read Quora to get to know some of this. The problem is that to read and follow these subjects, it is required to have a certain level of education in science. There is only so much that a writer can do to make it simple. There is a certain level beyond which it cannot be made easier to make it more accessible for everybody.

This makes reading this sort of thing boring to people who have other interests in life. They might be great at cooking or farming or woodwork, much better than the scientists who write about the Universe. Without them, society would collapse, and scientists who discover the secrets of the Universe would have no food. Thus, there is nothing wrong with the fact that so many people are just not interested in these sorts of things.

If we ever reach the stage where we will know everything about the Universe, it will just continue as it is. Perhaps the full story of how everything works will not be understood by anybody, but a small fraction of humanity might know some aspects of it, and everybody else will just live their lives and do their own thing, just like before.
