Starting a new journey in MBBS is exciting and challenging. A lot of juniors here on quora ask me this question.
Let me share some effective ways to study the main subjects: Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry.
Anatomy:
Definately a conceptual subject..
Recommended Books: Options include international standard Grey's Anatomy (optional) and Indian authors like Vishram Singh or BD Chaurasia. Personally, I found BDC book very helpful.
Notes
Try to make your own notes, keep it concise and take easy diagrams from PW-MedEd Notes, Well they use line diagrams that are easy to make. I still remember the diagram of wall of middle ear because of that.
Histology:
Practical notes are useful, and IB Singh is another good option.
Physiology:
Gold Standard Books:
Consider Ganong or Guyton and Hall. These are crucial for understanding concepts important for medical careers.
Indian Authors:
Books Like Physiocon, AK Jain, or Sembulingam are recommended.
.Flow Diagrams:
Try to make and use as many flow diagrams as possible. As a senior I'll recommend you to watch CNS Videos of Dr Vivek Nalgirkar on the MedEd App, you will understand how to make flow diagrams out of every topic.
Some people watch Marrow videos but believe me you will regret it, as they are too vast whereas Dr Vivek's lectures are crisp and concise, crafted best for Neet PG and Prof examinations. Atlast what you want is revisable content that MedEd offers.
Biochemistry:
Gold Standard Books:
Harper or Lippincott are highly recommended.
Indian Authors:
SatyaNarayan or Vasudevan are good choices.
Video Lectures:
Dr. Jambhulkar without any doubt, he is god of biochemistry, watch his lectures on the PW-MedEd App, He will make you fall in love with biochemistry.
Platforms like Marrow, Dams only go for rote learning but Dr Jambulkar explains you why and what! That's why he is india's top faculty.
General Tips:
- Attending practical classes is very important for understanding concepts practically.
- Enjoy your college life alongside your studies to stay balance
Lastly, enjoy your time in college—it's important to have a balanced life.
Thanks for A2A,
Pranav
