I started listening to Hungarian radio, after one year of listening I realized I could hear there were distinct words and not all just one long mumblejumbo. What helped me most was having my Hungarian boyfriend repeating sounds I couldn’t hear in my ear. Meaning I couldn’t hear the difference until he repeated them multiple times and I could finally grasp the new sounds like a, á, ly, gy and such. So, I agree that having a Hungarian lover helps a lot! Otherwise, immersing yourself in the culture and trying to read and learn as much vocabulary as possible while studying grammar with a teacher.
I’m sorry, but I don’t think there is any way of learning Hungarian with minimum effort. It requires dedication and cultural immersion, in my honest opinion. I have been living in Hungary since 2010 and just by interacting with locals after learning basic grammar helped a lot.
Good luck and let me know if you need more info.
I con recommend DuoLingo but it’s very basic. Still, it might help with some vocab and basic grammar.
